The adventure begins with an early morning departure from Kathmandu, where riders will navigate through the bustling streets before heading out into the countryside. The route to Phaplu takes approximately 8 hours and covers around 270 kilometers. Riders will experience a mix of paved and unpaved roads, winding through picturesque villages and lush green hills. Along the way, there are opportunities to stop for refreshments and enjoy local cuisine. Upon arrival in Phaplu, a serene town nestled in the Solukhumbu region, riders can unwind and take in the stunning views of the surrounding mountains, setting the tone for the adventure ahead.
Day two is dedicated to exploring the captivating Solukhumbu region. This area is famous for its proximity to Mount Everest and rich Sherpa culture. Riders can visit local monasteries, engage with the Sherpa community, or take short hikes in the surrounding hills to acclimatize to the altitude. The day can also include visits to nearby attractions such as the Phaplu Monastery or exploring the local markets. This rest day allows riders to recharge while immersing themselves in the unique cultural experiences that Solukhumbu has to offer.
On Day 3, riders will set off towards Bhojpur, traveling approximately 248 kilometers via Diktel Sadak. This journey takes around 8 hours and features a variety of terrains, including winding mountain roads and scenic valleys. As riders navigate through dense forests and terraced fields, they will have opportunities to stop and appreciate the natural beauty of Eastern Nepal. Bhojpur is known for its rich cultural heritage and traditional craftsmanship in stone carving. After arriving in Bhojpur, riders can explore local markets and experience the vibrant culture of this historic town.
The fourth day involves a shorter ride from Bhojpur to Dharan, covering about 152 kilometers in approximately 4 hours and 42 minutes. The route includes stops at Dhankuta and Bhedetar, where riders can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valleys. Dharan itself is a bustling town known for its commercial activities and cultural sites like Budha Subba Temple. After a day of riding, travelers can relax in Dharan and explore its vibrant atmosphere.
Day five takes riders from Dharan to Taplejung, covering around 206 kilometers over approximately 7 hours and 32 minutes. The journey leads through beautiful landscapes as riders head towards Suketar Airport, which serves as a gateway to the Kanchenjunga region. The road offers stunning views of terraced fields and lush greenery. After reaching Taplejung, riders can take a short ride to Sanophedi (9.9 km) for an overnight stay.
This day is dedicated to hiking the sacred Pathibhara Temple. Riders will trek from Sanophedi to Thulophedi (1.5 hours) before continuing on foot from Thulophedi to Pathibhara Temple (2.5 hours). The hike offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, making it a rewarding experience for all participants.
On Day seven, riders will travel from Taplejung towards Sandakpur via Phidim. This route is approximately 161 kilometers long and offers stunning vistas along the way as they ascend towards Sandakpur.
The eighth day involves a shorter ride from Sandakpur to Kanyam, covering about 60 kilometers. Kanyam is renowned for its tea gardens and beautiful landscapes, providing a perfect opportunity for relaxation after several days of riding.
On Day nine, riders will cover approximately 300 kilometers from Kanyam through Birtamode and Itahari before reaching Bardibas. This segment includes diverse landscapes as riders transition back towards the Terai region.
The final leg of this epic journey involves riding back to Kathmandu from Bardibas over a distance of about 200 kilometers. This route offers scenic views as it winds through hilly terrain before descending into the Kathmandu valley.
